SmiShing - is a new type of social engineering that uses cell phone text messages to persuade members to provide personal information such as card numbers, CVV2 and PIN's.

The text message may contain either a website address or a phone number that will connect you to an automated voice system which will ask you for personal information.

Our VISA fraud team or other business partners will only confirm indentification such as your name, date of birth and/or the last four numbers of your social security number.   They will never ask for your CVV2, PIN or full social security number.
